Stanza 1:

Stanza 2:

English Meaning: The speaker realizes there are two distinct paths available to them. They can either choose a positive path that results in grand achievements, or they might end up on an evil, destructive path causing immense worry and strain. The future depends entirely on this crucial choice.

English Meaning: The teenager seeks divine strength to reject negative urges and strong wishes to do wrong things. The ultimate goal is to maintain physical and mental purity, ensuring they remain healthy and prepared for daily challenges.

RHYME SCHEME: The rhyme scheme of the poem is 'abcb' in each stanza. For example, in the first stanza, 'make' rhymes with 'take'.  

FIGURES OF SPEECH:

• Apostrophe: The poet uses Apostrophe when he writes, "Please open up my eyes, dear Lord". Here, the poet is addressing God directly as an absent listener.  

• Metaphor: The poet uses a Metaphor when he describes bad choices as a "darkened road".  

• Inversion: Inversion is seen in the line, "Decisions I must make," where the word order is changed for poetic effect instead of writing "I must make decisions".

FAVOURITE LINES: My favourite lines from the poem are: "Help, Lord, to just say 'no' When temptation comes my way" I like these lines because they highlight a very realistic struggle that all teenagers face today. It is very hard to resist peer pressure, and these lines remind me to be strong and stay away from bad habits.
