The Playground That Spoke - Avneesh Rajpathak - Std 4- 7

Not far from where I live, there is an old playground beside my house. Everyday, I wish to visit it but fear stopped me as the playground is cursed. One day, I mustered enough courage and went to that playground. When I reached there, I checked on the see-saw, slides, swings etc. Everything seemed to be normal. I went back home and had dinner and slept. Then at midnight I heard a laughter sound. I turned on my light and looked outside my window. There was nothing unusual happening. So I thought it was just a nightmare and went back to sleep.

After few minutes, again the same sound came. This time, I decided to go out and investigate. So I grabbed a torch and climbed out of the window. I turned on my torch and started walking towards that old playground. I minded my every step I took and watched out in case any danger lurked. After few minutes, I reached to playground. When I looked inside, I got the shock of my life. To my horror, the see-saw, slide and the swing were having a loud, happy conversation. Suddenly, the see-saw looked at me and said `` What’s your name, boy?” I replied `` My name is Sam.” He asked `` Where do you live?” I replied `` I live next door.” After that I asked them how this playground became haunted. They sighed ``Earlier, this playground was a nice and green playground where lot of children used to come and play. This playground owner was Mr. John. One day, a sage along with his child came to the playground. John refused the poor sage’s child to play in the playground. The sage got very angry and cursed the playground that it will be haunted forever and John will die.

This is how the playground became haunted.” I asked the swing`` Is there any way to make this playground nice and green again?” The swing replied `` Yes. The sage left a diamond deep inside the ground. The diamond can only save the playground.” Immediately, I grabbed a shovel and started to dig. I dug everywhere in the playground but was not able to find the diamond. I was tired and about to give up but dug more and found the diamond. I ran to the swing and showed him the diamond. The swing told me to tap the diamond. I tapped the diamond and by magic suddenly a blue energy came from the diamond and surged everywhere in the playground. Immediately the haunted trees became normal. The thin brown grass became thick and green again and the rusted equipment became new again.

They all thanked me for making the playground nice and green. When I looked up at the sky, I realised it was almost dawn. I quickly said bye to them and ran into my home and climbed on my bed and went back to sleep.
