The Will: Battle - Divyanganaa Rajiv - Std 8- 12

Just when I was getting cozy to take a nap, my door opened with a huge bang. "Nera, wake up!" It was my best friend, Ted, who barged into my room as if it were his own house. "I FINALLY GOT 'THE WILL: BATTLE' VIDEO GAME!". I'm pretty sure our screams were heard all over the neighbourhood. "Okay, so I will call Mel and Finn to come over to my house, let's all have a game night," I said. I could feel the adrenaline rush in my veins. Mel and Finn arrived here at lightning speed when they heard about the video game.

The game started, and our fingers were shivering with excitement. We started to play at around 5 in the evening, it was now 7, none of us were surprisingly tired, the excitement brought out the energy in everyone.

It was a multiplayer role-playing game where you could select the number of people. Players were required to complete a few side quests and earn reward items, which could be used to compete in certain levels until they reached the last level. During this process, you gain XP, which increases stability and strength that players need as they advance. The main aim is to save the villagers from an evil spirit that was controlling them. We had to defeat the underlings during levels 1 to 49 before fighting the evil spirit at the 50th level.

Four of us joined as a team and were completing team quests. The characters we chose had special abilities. My character had the ability to fly and had mastery of bows and arrows. Ted’s character could be invisible and had mastery in sword fights. Finn’s character could change the weather at will and used a gun as a weapon. Mel’s character was a witch who used a wand that could heal others.

The initial levels were easy but the real problem started after level 35. We were playing for so long that before realizing, it was already 10 pm. We were getting tired but the determination to finish this game kept us awake. “Let’s take a breather and then come back to this.” Ted suggested. We stretched a little and closed our eyes for a while.

“GUYS WAKE UP!!” Mel’s scream woke us up. “Huh, when did Nera’s room get transformed into an open field?” asked Finn. I opened my eyes, “Is this a dream?” As much as I hate to be wrong, it was not a dream, we somehow ended up in ‘The Will: Battle’ video game’s village. “So, I guess we slept off just now and woke up in the video game we were playing? Huh, impossible.” Ted said.

“Congratulations, Travellers!” A mysterious robotic voice said. “You have made it to the universe of ‘The Will: Battle'! To win the world and the hearts of these troubled villagers, you need to proceed further and defeat the evil spirit! Only then can you, if lucky enough, escape.”

“Who is saying this?” “HELLO?” There was no response.

“So, we need to beat the whole game to get out?” Finn asked, “Then let’s hurry up and get out of here!”

We opened the scroll and checked the tasks to be completed for level 35, and after a few attempts, we finally completed that level. The levels after that were not easy, but a few game-time hours later, we reached level 50.

This is where we struggled the most. An intense fight occurred, with fatal attacks and blows from both sides. We made use of our power and skills, and with cuts and bruises by the end, we finally defeated it.

“Congratulations, Travellers, you have defeated the evil spirits and won back the village!” the robotic voice said again. “Walk over to that door to make a wish before opening the door; if you are lucky enough, it might come true!”

“Make a wish? My only wish is to get out of this world ASAP!” Mel exclaimed, “What does it mean by ‘if you are lucky enough’?” Ted said, “Is there only a 50-50 chance of us getting out?” Finn asked. “I guess we’ll have to test our luck.” I said.

We walked towards the door, held hands, closed our eyes, and said together, “We wish to go back to our world.” Slowly, the door opened and a bright light flashed before our eyes. Did we get lucky? Maybe…
