The Mirror Bride- Yutika Singh- Std 8 - 12

It was a peaceful morning in Thailand, birds chirping and the sun glooming. Hazel was a 24-year-old brunette girl with green eyes, the same as marbles. She was getting ready to meet her fiancé. Her heart was filled with excitement. That day, they were going to buy her wedding dress. She was clicking pictures with a big, cheerful smile, which was perfectly aesthetic. Then suddenly, her smile vanished after checking the pictures; she saw that the poses were different than what she had done. She went blank, and then to check, she put her hand up, but the reflection waved at her. Her heart stopped for a minute. She fell on the ground. Then she woke and thought it was her imagination and tried to ignore it. “Focus, Hazel.” Then suddenly, a gentle noise echoed, “Listen to me!” She said, “What? Who are you? What do you want?” The reflection told her to come with her, to come along with her. She denied earlier but then agreed. She asked, “How will I enter inside?” The reflection told her that she could enter; there was a portal that only opened for selected ones, and she was selected.

When she went inside, the reflection told her, “There are many secrets around you.” “What?” Hazel replied. The reflection told her that she was not an ordinary person. The reflection told her that she had to discover the truth by herself. “It’s getting late. I’ll tell you about your powers. To get them, you have to stand under moonlight while holding Middlemist Red Camellia.” “Isn’t that,” she said, “the rarest flower?” “But only you can find it by dropping your blood on the mirror, and then the mirror will guide you,” answered the reflection. Before she could open her mouth, it dissolved into the air, and she found herself outside the mirror with a note saying, “The portal will only then be open if you are fully ready.” Her head was spinning like a storm. Her mother called her and told her to hurry up because they were getting late. Now she had to search for Red Camellia, so she acted like she was unwell. Her mother told her to rest and said that they would go some other day. She lay on her bed with her sketchbook open, where there was a half-drawn Red Camellia. “What’s this now? Me special? Huh,” she murmured to herself. Then she took a mirror and went on the mountain. She took a pin and pinched her finger with it. Then the blood started flowing. “WHAT? How my blood is golden?” She froze. Then the drop of blood got on the glass, and she started seeing the arrows directing her path. She fell down but somehow reached her destination. “Where's that flower?” she thought. After searching, she didn’t find it. So she sat down. And at the moment her hand touched the ground, the flower popped. She took it and stood under the moonlight. Then soon, the moon started to turn red. Suddenly, a blaze struck her. She fainted.

After a moment, she woke and found herself in her room with the same sketch, but then it was completed. She then went inside and tried to go into the mirror. The portal opened, and she saw the same girl with blonde hair and red eyes. The girl was cheerfully smiling in her wedding gown. Then a man came. Hazel whispered “Dravik” without any sense. She watched as that guy came and leaned down, and his bracelet glowed. The girl screamed, and that boy sucked all her blood. When Hazel scratched her head, she remembered it was her sister who vanished after her marriage, and no one knows what happened to her. Hazel mumbled, “She had not vanished; she was killed.” Then she watched her sister's wedding photos. She noticed that he was wearing a bracelet then too, and he appeared to look the same as Dravik. She also noticed that she had the same mark as her sister. “Not me!!” she whispered to herself. Suddenly, her phone rang; it was a call from Dravik. She picked it up, and he told her to come to the café. She went there; Dravik was waiting for her. They had a normal conversation until Hazel got hurt, and her blood started flowing. She saw that Dravik was trying to control himself. After a moment, he went to the washroom. She noticed that it was the same bracelet that she saw earlier. She understood everything—that the next turn would be hers.

So after the wedding, at the moment when he was about to come near her, she sprayed Middlemist Red Camellia water on him. She had studied them and found that they couldn’t go under red moonlight and couldn’t tolerate Red Camellia spray. Then she used her powers and trapped him in a portal. She then went to bring the knife, put her power into it, and stabbed him. She also took his bracelet and broke it into pieces, leaving him to die.
